Diwali cards
The Indian culture is one of the oldest and unique . In India theree is amazing cultural diversity throughout the country . The south, North, and Northeast have their own distinct cultures and almost every state has carved out its own cultural niche. There is hardly any culture in the world that is as varied and unique as india. India is a vast country having variety of geographical features and climate conditions.
This range of Diwali cards is devoted to the different forms of Indian art .
This is a traditional indian design mainly made by rice powder paste on floor by the women of west-Bengal. I have used the pattern in my card for this festive season. To make it more colorful i have used water color pencils.
Mandana is the folk art of decorating houses . Various designs are made on the floors and walls using red sand and chalk powder . This art form is very popular in the rural areas of Rajsthan. Rectangle, square and floral designs in various dimentions are made, suiting the particular season or festival . The pattern i have used in this card is one of my favourite mandana patterns. Giving a little hint of shine with the golden ribbon .
India is so rich in culture and the expression of each culture is vivid. My next card is based on the Madhubani art. Traditionally painted on walls and floors by the women of Bihar to invoke divine protection ,scenes from hindu epics, fertility symbols, auspicious birds and beasts are the most popular patterns.
